Three volumes containing holograph manuscript minutes, reports, and lists of members of the Washington, D.C., auxiliary of the Women's National Indian Association, written and signed by secretaries of the auxiliary. Minutes discuss the auxiliary's efforts to obtain influence in the United States Congress and include summaries of reports from missionaries, teachers, and other field workers. The first volume includes minutes describing the formation of the auxiliary in 1882 and tributes paid to Harriet Ward Foote Hawley after her death in 1886. A printed constitution and bylaws are tipped in the second volume, and four sheets of accounts are laid in.

The Women's National Indian Association was organized in 1882 as an advocate for the rights of American Indians. Formerly called the Indian Treaty-Keeping and Protective Association during the 1870s, the Association's name was changed to the National Indian Association in 1901. A Washington, D.C., auxiliary was formed in 1882; Harriet Ward Foote Hawley was a founding member of this auxiliary and served as its President from 1882 to 1886. Organization founded by Mary Lucinda Bonney and Amelia Stone Quinton in 1879.
